Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert
Depart Fes at 8:00 AM and travel through the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains. Your first stop is Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine architecture and clean streets.
Continue to the Azrou Cedar Forest, home to wild Barbary macaques, before stopping in Midelt for lunch. In the afternoon, drive through the beautiful Ziz Valley and its impressive gorges, passing Erfoud, known for fossils and date palms.
Arrive in Merzouga late afternoon, where you’ll switch vehicles for a camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes. Watch the sunset paint the desert in golden tones before reaching your Berber desert camp. Enjoy a traditional dinner and overnight stay beneath a star-filled Saharan sky.
Day 2: Merzouga – Rissani – Todgha Gorge – Dades Valley
Wake early to admire a breathtaking sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast at the camp. Travel to Rissani, visiting its lively traditional souk (open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays), once a major trading center in the region.
Continue to Erfoud, famous for fossil workshops, then drive to the spectacular Todgha Gorge, where towering limestone cliffs rise above a crystal-clear river. Enjoy free time to walk, relax, and take photos.
In the late afternoon, continue toward the Dades Valley, where you’ll enjoy dinner and spend the night in a charming guesthouse surrounded by dramatic red rock formations.
Day 3: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Marrakech
After breakfast, travel through the Valley of Roses and the palm groves of Skoura along the legendary Road of a Thousand Kasbahs.
Stop in Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” with an optional visit to its film studios. Continue to the UNESCO-listed Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, an iconic fortified village featured in films such as Gladiator and Game of Thrones.
After lunch, cross the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass, arriving in Marrakech by evening and marking the end of your incredible desert journey.
